Mission Statement for the Three Forks church of Christ

Why are we here? Jesus, more than 2,000 years ago, left all the power and glory of heaven to come to earth to seek and save the lost, to build His church and become obedient to God’s will even to the point of death, even the death of the cross. “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11. Because of His tremendous love and sacrifice,

Our Mission is, first of all, to reach out to the world and community with the lifesaving gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; “And Jesus came and spoke to them saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.’” (Matthew 28:18-20)  Secondly it is to build up the body of Christ; “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit” (Ephesians 2:19-22).

Our Goal is to be conformed to the image of Christ; “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Romans 8:29).

Our Path is laid out for us in Ephesians 4:11-16. “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ – from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” This specific path is constructed for each member of the Three Forks congregation to mature into a perfect man to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

We welcome you to come join us on this path as we stretch toward the goal of being like Jesus the very Son of God.
